John A. Holdredge
Shareholder
John Holdredge is a shareholder, having joined the firm in 1992, and becoming a shareholder in 1996. A significant portion of John’s practice involves the wine industry, and as a result, his primary area of focus involves real estate. He serves as general counsel to a large number of wineries (including serving as local counsel for foreign brands). He also represents many ancillary aspects of the industry, including vineyard owners/winegrowers, vineyard management companies, winery equipment suppliers and other companies related to the wine industry. This work involves many differing aspects of the law, including a wide variety of real estate matters- both including transactional work (acquisitions) as well as a range of litigation matters.
Aside from this John handles a wide range of non-winery legal matters, including other aspects of agricultural law (including the dairy and produce industries), assisting real estate brokers, sellers and purchasers. John has also served as a private mediator, and enjoys assisting parties to resolve disputes.
In addition to his law practice, John is the co-owner and winemaker at Holdredge Wines, where, with his wife and business partner Carri Holdredge, he produces some 2,500 cases of Pinot Noir each year. They currently utilize grapes from some fifteen (15) different vineyards, and release 12 or more different wines each year.
John lives in Healdsburg, and in his “spare time” he has coached youth sports teams, is involved with local fundraising, and somehow finds time to indulge his love for travel, and to spend time with his wife, and two children.
